Walker

Howdy everyone, my name is Walker (not Texas Ranger, but I get that a lot) and I'm a loving, senior man looking for my forever home. My dad works too much and I spend long hours by myself, which I don't like at all. He says that I've come along way since I came to live with him 4 years ago. It may take me a little time and patience to get comfortable with you but once I am I'm yours. I love having my belly and ears rubbed, just go easy on my ears. When I see someone I recognize I will whine with excitement and want to be petted immediately and start to lick your face and hands. I haven't had much exposure to young kids, but as long as they're gentle with me and don't approach me too quickly I like them. I don't typically care for other dogs, especially ones bigger than me, but I tolerate other dogs as long as they don't want to play. Cats are really interesting to me, but I haven't spent too much time with them either. Ideally, I'd be great as an only dog, but I'll make friends easily.

I don't like to play much since I'm getting older and I don't really care for long walks, shorter walks around the block are more to my liking and keep me in good shape, just look at my pics! I really like to snuggle up next to you on the couch or recliner and snooze with you. My dad doesn't let me jump on the couch or the bed because I have a calcified disc in my tail that caused me some pain a while back, but since then I use my ramp and I have done just well and haven't have any more pain. I do like treats and chews but my dad doesn't let me have rawhides or other chews that take a while to eat because I can get mean if you get close to me or try to move me while I'm chewing them. My dad just gives me small treats and milk bones and I'm perfectly alright with that.

I rarely have accidents in the house and I'm good about letting you know if I need to go outside. Since I'm a little older I need to go out every 4 hours. I'm good on my leash but a fenced in yard is fine too. I love to sit outside in the sun with a breeze and take a nap. For reasons I can't remember, I don't like to travel in the car, my dad said it had something to do with my life before I came to live with him. I will tremble and want to sit in your lap, but my harness hooks to the seat belt so I deal with sitting in the back seat with a blanket. Once we're out of the car I'm just as happy as can be and back to wagging my tail.
