Hi! My name is Boomer! I know, I know---I'm a handsome, different-looking dachshund, but that's only one of the qualities that makes me special. I'm feeling a lot more relaxed since I've been here in my foster home. I used to live in a house with very little children and I got into trouble when I would chew on their toys and pacifiers----hey, if it's on the floor, how was I supposed to know I couldn't have it?? My mom didn't realize that the best doggie treat of all is a used baby diaper, so when I ate one that was left out BOOM!, I was in foster care. Here in my foster home there are toys laying all over the place and for the first few days I didn't want to get into trouble so I didn't touch ANY of them. Foster mom got on the floor and threw me a toy and said it was OK to play----I saw all the other dogs here having fun with the toys and I wanted to have fun too!! Now I just go find a toy anytime I want to play----but nobody better try to take it away if I'm playing with it! The other new thing we do here that I didn't get to do before is go out into the neighborhood for a long walk every single day!! My foster mom says I'm the best walker of the bunch. I don't sniff around and want to stop every block----I just want to WALK! I also like to spend a lot of time just taking it easy----my favorite sleeping spot is high up on top of a cushy chair. So---in my next home I really don't want any little children living there, other dogs and even cats are just fine. I want a rule that any toys left on the floor, are free game. I would like to go for a walk in the neighborhood every day. And a comfy chair to sleep in would really be nice!
If you think you could give me those things, I promise to try to be a really good boy and I WILL give you lots of love back!

Foster Mom note: Boomer is a great dog! A little unsure of strangers initially, he warms up pretty quickly. He likes to bark at any noises, but will quiet down, if told to stop. Boomer has a seizure disorder since about age 1 1/2, but is controlled on Phenobarbitol tablets, given twice a day. He is now UTD on all shots, is heartworm negative and just got his teeth cleaned. I think Boomer prefers men---he adores my husband! If you'd like to adopt Boomer, please fill out an application with his name on it. If you'd have any questions about Boomer, you can email his foster mom at kbthill@gmail.com
